4K TV is a visual trend of the new age, and it would be great if we could enjoy such high-end images as a home cinema. With a budget of around $1000, you have a lot of choices in the market. However, Ocster looks forward to suggesting you the best 4K TV under 1000 that will satisfy your needs. Read on to find out!

Buying guides

1. Screen size

In general, bigger is better when it comes to the best 4k TV under $1000. And 4K is no different. The bigger the screen, the better viewing experience you'll have with your 4K UHD TV. Buy the largest monitor you can afford - but consider the size of your room as well. Don't buy a TV that's too big for your home. A giant 77-inch TV will overwhelm a small room. And for the best viewing experience, you need to set the correct distance from your TV. The further away you need to sit, the larger the screen size.

  • 40-inch TV - sits 8ft from the TV.
  • 48-50 inch TV - sit from 9ft to 10ft from TV.
  • 55-inch TV - sits 11ft to 12ft from the TV.
  • 65-inch TV - sits 13ft to 14ft from the TV.

2. OLED vs LED screen

It doesn't have to be 4K or OLED when you buy a new TV. Since OLED is a type of 4K display and resolution, you can get both with a 4K OLED TV or choose a traditional 4K LED TV. OLED is king of image quality due to its ability to produce perfect, absolute blacks. The LED TV requires backlight to produce the picture. Backlighting can lead to light bleeding - making blacks appear gray. But 4K high-end TVs use local dimming to reduce bleeding. OLED TVs do not need backlighting and can therefore produce the deepest black tones.

3. 4k vs 8k

TV picture quality is measured in resolution. For many years, Full HD was the best. This was later superseded by 4K UHD in the early 2010. 4K offers four times more detail than Full HD, with 3840x2160 pixels compared to 1920x1080's Full HD.

However, 4K has only become the norm in recent years, with huge increases in Ultra HD 4K content from Sky, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

Now, we have the early stages of the next generation of resolution TVs - 8K. Right now, there's very little 8K content, aside from specially created YouTube videos. Our top LG NanoCell TVs have 8K resolution. LG also launched the first 8K ZX OLED. But 8K technology is one in the near future.

4. HDR

High Dynamic Range (HDR) transforms 4k TVs under 1000, games and movie theaters. With it, you can enjoy games and movies in brighter whites, darker blacks and more in the dark. It also opens up a color palette of over a billion colors with a wider color gamut. The premium 4K HDR TV is compatible with various HDR formats, such as HDR 10, HLG and Dolby Vision. Approved by Hollywood directors, Dolby Vision is the most advanced HDR. It enhances what you are viewing each scene, optimizing color, brightness and sharpness.

5. Dolby Atmos

Dolby Atmos is the latest in cinema sound. If you're watching extreme movies or football on your 4K TV, it's a good idea to choose a model with Dolby Atmos. It creates the sound of moving around you in three dimensions, putting you at the center of the action.

1. Samsung UN50RU7100FXZA Flat 4K UHD Smart TV

Samsung UN50RU7100FXZA Flat 4K UHD Smart TV offers shoppers an attractive combination of brand identity, a suite of relevant features and an affordable price, positioning it to stand out on store shelves when you're looking for something inexpensive but not too basic either.

As a replacement for last year's Samsung NU7100, it's no surprise that the newer RU7100 has a very similar design. The overall look is pretty basic, with a black plastic construction, from 0.6-inch thick bezels around the screen to the included kickstand. The RU7100 chassis benefits from Samsung's design aesthetic, which adds a stylish texture on the back, where most budget TVs will use a simple matte finish.

Measuring 44.3 x 25.6 x 2.3 inches without a stand, this best 4k TV under 1000 is quite thin for an LCD TV, with its tapered design making the set look better than the 2.3-inch thickness. can suggest. At 30 pounds, the 50-inch model is light enough to be assembled and set up by one person, but for the larger size you'll definitely need a second person to help move and lift the TV.

As one of Samsung's most affordable 4K TVs, the Samsung UN50RU7100FXZA offers a full 3840 x 2160 resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, and decent image quality. With an edge-illuminated backlight and no local dimming, the RU7100 offers surprisingly good brightness, but overall, the HDR quality (high dynamic range) is limited. Although bright lights and bright areas are bright, shadows often swallow fine details.

The RU7100 boasts one of our favorite Samsung features, which automatically detects the console, senses when the game console is connected and powers on, then switches modes on its own. That means when we launch the Xbox One X for testing, this setting automatically changes from movie mode to game mode.

2. TCL 65R635 6-Series 4K Roku Smart TV

The TCL 65R635 6-Series 4K Roku Smart TV is still one of the best budget TVs you can buy thanks to its stunning 4K HDR performance and inclusion of premium AV formats like Dolby Vision, but its place at the top right now. being challenged by Vizio and Hisense. This dedication to providing you with a low-cost alternative to premium TVs that paid dividends: the original TCL P6-Series, the first of its kind, could not be on the shelf for more than a few weeks at the same time.

One pleasant surprise is that TCL and Roku for TV are ready for Screencast - a handy feature that lets you stream content from your mobile device to your TV. This is great if you have a group of friends and all want to watch their favorite YouTube clips, or if you want to use your TV as a digital photo frame when family visits.

If you curb your expectations, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the 6-Series's HD/SDR performance - it's neither the brightest 4k TV under 1000 in the world nor the best on the market in terms of upgradability. But it is both surprisingly bright and effective upgrades for the price. But let's break both of those points a bit.

In terms of brightness, the QLED 6-Series is similar to last year with a maximum brightness of around 600 to 700 nits in HD/SDR mode. That gives it more than enough space to display both the brightest and darkest images in HD/SDR, making it a relatively powerful option for those who mostly use traditional cables or transmitters.

Under the hood, the TCL 65R635 6-Series 4K Roku Smart TV is utilizing two key technologies - the all-array panel and the Quantum Dot filter. The first is the one that allows the TV to reach a maximum brightness of about 800 nits without having a large halo while the second one makes its colors really vivid. That very Quantum filter makes its Wide Color Gamut technology even better.

3. VIZIO 55-Inch M-Series Quantum 4K Smart TV

VIZIO 55-Inch M-Series Quantum 4K Smart TV is one of the more affordable TVs with the striking colors I warned Samsung and Sony of. It delivers very good image quality, especially in terms of price, although the HDR isn't as impressive as it is on the competing Hisense H8F. Vizio doesn't offer motion compensation or Bluetooth for some reason. Regardless, this is a great TV picture for the money and it should be on the shortlist of every thrift shopper.

Vizio talks about an effective 120Hz refresh rate, but the hardware refresh rate is actually 60Hz. There's a layer of quantum dots responsible for striking colors, and the TV runs Vizio's own SmartCast operating system, including a well-designed remote control app for Android and iOS, if you're not afraid to create one. At one point, this best 4k TV under $1000 tried bypassing the remote control and did a lot of good work on the aforementioned app.

The VIZIO 55-Inch M-Series Quantum 4K Smart TV colors are at their best, thanks to the aforementioned quantum dots and the overall processing is significantly improved over what I saw with last year's Vizio P-Series. The M-Series is marketed as HDR and indeed, it supports Dolby Vision as well as HDR10 and HLG. But it doesn't show vivid HDR like Hisense H8F, QLED or OLED because it doesn't have as much maximum brightness. Both of our gauges measured nits at a maximum of around 530, which is about 150 to 200 nits higher than a non-HDR TV but a few hundred less than what I consider suitable and very poor in comparison. 1,000 units recommended by the industry. Five hundred is enough to make the HDR effect noticeable, just not enough to really blow you away.

4. LG 65UN7300PUF Alexa Built-In 4K Smart UHD TV

LG 65UN7300PUF Alexa Built-In 4K Smart UHD TV is a 4K smart TV that boasts a wide viewing angle and a powerful smart TV experience. But being LG's most basic 4K model, it comes with some sacrifices, as the UM7300 doesn't have some of the features you might find on the best TVs, even some in the same price range. It ditches local dimming and has limited HDR support, but this is balanced by its excellent response times during gaming and a powerful smart TV experience.

An exception to this generous advice is the 65UM7300PUA 50 inch. Unlike the other models in the UM7300 series, this 65-inch variant uses a VA panel instead of an IPS panel. Consequently, our notes about display performance will not apply. Due to the differences in technology, we expect the VA-equipped model to offer better black levels but with narrower viewing angles. Without testing, however, we can't say exactly how different this model will actually differ from the rest of the model line.

The LG 65UN7300PUF 4K TV is an exercise in delivering the basics, giving you some (but not all) of the features you'd expect from a 4K TV. The 65-inch display offers a full 3840 x 2160 resolution and looks pretty good for most content. But there were some issues that really stood out when I started watching prototypes on a 65-inch TV. Thanks to the TV's IPS display, you'll be able to enjoy images from a variety of angles, with minimal color shift when viewed from the side. However, the IPS display is notorious for performing poorly when it comes to black levels, and we also saw this on this 4k TV under 1000.

5. Sony X80J 65 Inch 4K Smart Google TV

The Sony X80J 65 Inch 4k Smart Google TV is suitable for mixed use. It does well in bright rooms and its wide viewing angle is great for a more spacious seating arrangement. However, the low contrast ratio makes it unsuitable for watching movies or playing games in the dark. Gamers might be disappointed because it lacks advanced gaming features, but the low input lag and fast response times would suit casual gaming. Unfortunately, it can't be bright enough to deliver a satisfying HDR experience.

The back of this best 4k TV under $1000 is simple, made of grainy plastic. Cable management includes cable clips that attach to the pins. The 43 and 50-inch versions have a different backside from the mesh design, but we don't expect it to change anything. It feels well built. This TV is made entirely of plastic and is relatively light but does not feel as solid as the TV with more premium materials. There is a bit of flex around the back as well as around the contours.

The Sony X80J 65 Inch 4k Smart Google TV has good gray color uniformity, although this can vary between units. The corners of the screen are significantly darker, but there isn't too much of a dirty screen effect across the center. In near-dark scenes, the consistency is even better. Good viewing angle. For the most part, the image stays accurate as you move away from the center, making it a good choice for a wider seat layout. Note that the 50 inch uses a VA panel, so we expect it to work differently. After calibration, the accuracy is excellent. Any remaining inaccuracies will be imperceptible to the naked eye. Gamma and color temperature are almost perfect.

FAQs

1. What is 4k Ultra HD TV?

People said that the new standard in TV picture quality is 4K. Also known as Ultra HD, it follows from Full HD and has become increasingly popular for people who upgrade their TVs in recent years. The 4k name means the screen has about 4,000 pixels horizontally. When you watch 4k TVs, you'll find them also referred to as "4k Ultra HD" or sometimes just "UHD". At LG, 4k TVs apply right across our TV ranges - from OLED and NanoCell, to 4K UHD.

2. What are the benefits of the best 4k TV under 1000?

  • Sharper pictures: With four times the pixel count of Full HD, movies and sports are in great detail.
  • Depth Enhancement: Feel like you are in the scene with the added depth of 4K for vivid landscapes.
  • HDR Support: Enjoy movies in over a billion colors and see details in bright and dark scenes thanks to support for HDR formats like Dolby Vision.
  • 4k content: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Sky are among the Ultra HD content (subscription required).
  • Full HD upscaling: Enjoy Full HD content at resolutions near 4k, with powerful upscaling technology built in.
  • Multiple choices: 4k TVs come in screen sizes ranging from small to super large (43 inches to 77 inches), suitable for most room and family sizes.

3. Should I invest in a premium 4k UHD TV?

4K Ultra HDs can vary a lot, depending on how much you want to invest. Low-cost 4K TVs will give you 4K resolution, but they won't offer much more than that and fall behind OLED TVs.

However, premium 4k Ultra HD TVs are equipped with features that help bridge the gap between them and OLED. The best LG 4k TVs use nano-cell technology to produce much better picture quality and viewing experience than cheaper 4K TVs thanks to more accurate colors and wider viewing angles.

4. How do I know what size 4K TV will be?

If you are watching 4k Ultra High Definition TV, the formula will change slightly. Due to the increased resolution, the recommended ideal viewing distance is one to 1.5 times the screen size. So if you bought a 50-inch TV, it should be 50 to 75 inches away.

5. Does a 4k TV under 1000 require a special HDMI cable?

When it comes to 4k TVs, you don't need to use a special HDMI cable. HDMI cable standards can affect color and resolution, but newer versions aren't required for 4k TVs.
